I did some research and I found out that Volumio, Moode Audio Player, and MPD are the best Operating Systems for what you want to do. They are all pretty much the same, but it's up to you for which one you want. I hope you find this helpful.

Well you could always role you own. It's not that hard:You'd probably lack some of the fancy bits you'd get with a paid for Volumio or Plex box but you get what you pay for
- RPiOS lite (or Desktop with auto login to the desktop disabled)
- MPD for local playback or shairportsync (or whatever it has been forked/renamed as) for multiroom synced audio
- Your choice of MPD client running or your choice of device for control.
- miniDLNA for smart devices
- Samba if you want file access to down/up load files.
