Troubleshooting • Re: Video not displaying in Chromium 126.0.6478.164

Thank you for your suggestion to flash a spare SD card with Pi OS Bookworm and check if Chromium plays videos correctly. Before I proceed with that, I want to mention that I've tested the same version of the OS on an SSD, which hasn't been updated yet, and I encountered a different issue. Video playback works, but Netflix no longer allows streaming. It appears there might be a DRM-related issue.

I've attached a screenshot that shows how Netflix looks and the list of updates pending. It seems like the problem with Netflix might be related to these updates or DRM support in the current version of Chromium.

Additionally, I would like to clarify the difference between the two versions I am using. On the updated version of the OS on my SSD, videos in Chromium are displayed as a white screen (audio plays normally). On the other hand, the non-updated SSD version allows video playback, but Netflix displays an error message, prohibiting streaming. This seems to indicate two distinct issues related to the updates and DRM capabilities.

Just a few days ago, I was able to watch Netflix and YouTube without any issues on both installations. This problem has only emerged after the recent updates.

Could these issues be specifically linked to how the updates affect DRM handling or Chromium’s video playback settings on the Raspberry Pi?

Thanks again for your guidance!
