I'm now measuring at three points in the circuit, and I think I'm doing the correct calculations with the measurements, as well as changing the calculations for when the direction flips. The values on each direction are similar, but are still different enough for the ~600 ohm difference on the 4.7k resistor. I can post the measurements if that would help.
